A 4-Way Connectors are available allowing the basic hookup of the three lighting functions (running, turn, and brake lights) plus one pin is provided for a ground wire. Most standard light duty trailers will use a 4-pole flat connector. In order to make the 4-Way Connectors work, you must know how to install it properly to the trailer. There are several functions and color coding for 4-Way Connectors. For Right turn the color for that will be green and the minimum suggested wire gauge is 18 and you need to attach the 4-Way Connectors to the right turn of the vehicle’s wiring harness and attach the 4-Way Connectors to the trailer’s right turn signal. For Left turn the color code for that is yellow and the minimum suggested wire gauge is 18 and you need to attach the 4-Way Connectors to left turn of the vehicle’s wiring signal and attach it also to the trailer left turn signal.
For the ground the color for that is white and the minimum suggested wire gauge is 16 and you need to attach the 4-Way Connectors to Vehicle ground point - metal, uncoated, rustproof and attach that also to the trailers’s ground point - metal, uncoated, rustproof. And for the tail, the color for that is brownmand the minimum suggested wire gauge is 18 and you need to attach the 4-Way Connectors to the Taillight of vehicle's wiring harness and attach that to the Trailer's taillights.
