A fuel injection system is designed and calibrated specifically for types of fuel it will handle. Most fuel injection systems are for gasoline or diesel applications. With the advent of electronic fuel injection (EFI), the diesel and gasoline hardware has become similar. EFI's programmable firmware has permitted common hardware to be used with different fuels.
Basic function of Diesel fuel system is to provide storage of diesel fuel, to provide sufficient circulation of clean filtered fuel for lubrication, cooling and combustion purposes. Diesel Fuel System allows warm fuel from the engine to circulate back to the tanks. The specific layout and arrangement of the diesel fuel system will vary slightly depending on how it is design and constructed. The basic diesel fuel system consists of the fuel tanks and a fuel transfer pump supply that can be a separate engine-driven pump or can be mounted on or inside the injection pump. In addition, the Diesel Fuel system uses two fuel filters; a primary and secondary filter to remove impurities from the fuel. In some system you will have a fuel filter or water separator that contains an internal filter and water trap.
The Tank, Cap, Gauges, Fuel Filters played an important role in Diesel Fuel System. Tank will allow the fuel to be drained. It is equipped with a small low mounted catchment basin to drain water. Cap which seals when fuel enters. The role of the gauge in Diesel Fuel System is to check the fuel level. The purpose of fuel filter is to remove any foreign particles as well as water.
